INDOOR FLYING - SWANLEY

Roll on Summer ....

The first of the club fun days was held on 15th April and was unfortunately marred by a stiff and very cold Northerly wind. As all club members will know this means the wind blows unrestricted across from Essex straight down the flight line. Even I ended up wearing a fleece and coat to try and keep warm, something rarely seen. However at least it stayed dry. All of this did mean that the turn out was very low, but I think everyone who attended had a good time, especially the seven pilots who took part in the action.

Due to the conditions only three 'classes' were flown being the timed one minute hover, the circle hop and, the favorite, drag race. only one model suffered minimal damage when Peter Gray's Trex 600 ran out of fuel as he pulled up at the far end of the drag run. A very skilled auto some 350 yards from him saved the machine, nice one Pete. I have tabulated the results below, 10 points for for a win, 8 for second, 6 for third, 4 for fourth and 2 for fifth. There was an error when the results were announced at the field for which I apologise. The second event will be on 19th August, so come on its your club join in and have a laugh. I have a few photos from the day fi any more are sent I will upload them all on to the pictures page.

Just quick reminder to all club members that the summer evening barbeques will be starting on Tuesday 1st May. These are free to all club members and are held on the first Tuesday of the month starting around 17:00 and going through to dusk. Come along have a fly, enjoy a burger and put the world to rights with a like minded bunch of rouges .....sorry I meant group of educated philosophical gentlemen.
